Today, we are interviewing Solomon Carlson, a pop singer from the United States. He started making music in 2019 with his first song, “Always on my mind.” He has released 5 songs so far and plans to release one song a month this year.
Please tell us something about yourself.
I am a small-time musician from Fargo North Dakota. Been making music for a year now.
Please tell us more about your journey?
Well, I have always been interested in music and loved it as I grew up. I wanted to pursue it. I didn’t start at it for a little while because lots of people were telling me to go to college and get a “real job” because it was safer. I am delighted that I have found a way to quiet the negative voices because I love doing this and never plan to stop. My latest song is ‘Make it Out Alive’
Who are your role models?
I am inspired by lots of great musicians that came before me. I love Post Malone and Ed Sheeran a lot. I do not make rock music or sound anything like them, but my favorite band has always been Shinedown.
What inspires you?
My own drive of loving music and wanting to get better. I want to make sure that every song is better than the last. Obviously, people are going to have stylistic preferences, but I think my production quality has improved, especially since I am doing everything on my laptop.
What’s your most memorable experience?
Probably my first date with my girlfriend of over 1 and a half years. We went to go play pool, and I just knew in my gut that she was the one.
Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
I would say TikTok. I make little songs, jokes and I ask people to use a new song in their videos when they come out. I actually just started a new series once a week, where I try to mimic a different artist’s style.
What’s your greatest fear?
Not being able to accomplish all of the goals I have for myself. I want to go to big places and see some big things; some say it is unrealistic, and it sometimes starts to put weight on my shoulders. But I just got to keep lifting it and moving forward.
Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
Honestly, I have been learning how to market it. For making it in the music industry, it is 10% music, 80% marketing, and 10% luck. I have been soaking in everything I can about marketing. I read several articles on music marketing or marketing as a whole every day, but there is always more to learn.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Influencer marketing is the best way to advertise for music people take the recommendations of people they follow more seriously than your own.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
My friends, family, and fans. I have a great support system that I love to death.
Any message for our readers.
Always keep going no matter the odds, you can always turn things around for the better.
How can people connect with you?
You can find me anywhere like Instagram. You can find music under the name Solomon Carlson and my social media channels as well.
