Today, we are interviewing Joey Boda, an independent 24 yr old artist from Omaha, NE. He has been making music for 5 years now.
1. Please tell us more about your journey?
I’ve lived in Omaha my whole life, and I’ve had a lot of things take my life in many directions. I used to play sports until I got my 3rd serious concussion, and that’s when music really stepped up in a big way in my life, and that’s when I started to make sense of my life. Most of my life was very messy and chaotic leading up to that, so I’ll save that for another time.
2. Who are your role models?
My most influential role models are Lebron, Nipsey Hussle, Will Smith, Jim Carrey, J cole, Ellen, but I could go on and on who I model myself after. Those are just some of the main ones.
3. What inspires you?
Everything honestly, I try and take inspiration from everything in my life, from people, music, situations, art, hardships, etc.
4. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
That its a long process and that you have to learn to love it in order to be successful. You have to be willing to put in 5 years, not just 1.
5. What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
To always learn from mistakes and that its okay to make them. Failing is always the quickest route to change because when you win, you don’t learn as much even though you moved forward and were successful. You also learn more about yourself when shit gets difficult.
6. What keeps you going when things get tough?
My mom and girlfriend keep me pretty grounded. And I always like to keep positive attitudes towards anything, especially when those things don’t feel positive. But I know who I am and where I am going, so that also is a relief because I know where I’ll end up, and this is just part of my process.
7. Any message for our readers.
If you want something. Work hard and stay patient.
8. How can people connect with you?
They can connect with me in all types of ways. I’m on all platforms: Youtube, Social Media Channels like Instagram, Email. They can check me out on Spotify.
Anything honestly, I’m always open to listening to new insight and opinions, and I almost always respond to comments or DMs.
